Well, what a triumphant start for sports week! Gold medal winner Jason Gardener came to The Kingfisher School to kick start the first event of the week with Superschools. Each class participated in a sponsored circuit event whereby they had to complete a series of activities: sit-ups, leg drives, press-ups and star jumps. This was then topped off by getting a personal photo with the gold medallist himself! The children worked incredibly hard and raised money for an excellent cause.
On Tuesday, The Kingfisher was lucky enough to accommodate two young, talented and experienced girls from Colston’s Girls School for an afternoon of martial arts. Needless the say the girls where excellent and the children thoroughly enjoyed participating in this exciting event. This provided a great opportunity for some children who have yet to experience the art of traditional self-defence practises.
For our closing ceremony the whole school participated in a danceathon that was coordinated brilliantly by Fae from BigFoot drama. Throughout the day each class had the chance to work with Fae to practice their own routine which ultimately culminated in a whole school performance at the end of the day. This was made this extra special as we had set up a webcam link to Bannerman Road Community Academy and Fairlawn Primary School, both part of the CGS Trust. Each school took turns in performing for one another and the outcome was simply brilliant. A fitting way to end such a great week!
