The school day for the school starts at 8:50 am and we expect your child to be in classroom at that time.
Registers are marked by 9:00 am.
If your child arrives after this time they will receive a late mark (L).
In accordance with Regulations, if your child arrives after registers close they will receive a mark that shows them to be on site, but this will not count as a present mark and it will mean they have an unauthorised absence (U). This may mean that you could face a penalty notice if the problem persists. If your child has a persistent late record, you will be asked to meet with the Headteacher to help resolve the problem.

Every effort should be made to ensure all doctor and other appointments are made outside of school hours.  If a child enters or leaves the premises outside of school hours this must be through the School Office and they must be signed in or out.

In the interest of safeguarding if a child is unwell and will be absent from school the parent must call the School Office on 0117 3773185 before 9.00am and then again on each subsequent day of the illness.  If the Office does not receive a phone call the office will make every attempt to contact the parent/carer.

Please be aware that the School Office and not the Class Teacher must be informed of any absences due to illness or medical appointments.

Holidays in term time are not an entitlement and are strongly discouraged by the Government, Local Authority, Governors and School.  The Head of School can authorise days off in exceptional circumstances.  If you wish to remove your child from school for any reason during term time a ‘Request for Leave of Absence’, form (available from the website) must be completed in advance and submitted to the Head of School who will then base their decision on the circumstances of the absence, the pupil’s age and progress at school and their overall attendance record.  Authorisation will not be given retrospectively.

The school and Governors will monitor attendance.  Repeated absences or lates will trigger formal letters and meetings with the Head of School to discuss the issue.  Fines will be administered for repeated unauthorised absences.

Children with 98-100% attendance records will receives certificates at the end of each term.  Any child with 100% attendance at the end of the year will receive a special certificate in the final assembly of the Summer Term.  The class with the best overall attendance will also be rewarded.

The school has an ambitious attendance target of 96.5%.  We hope all parents will work with us to achieve this.  Further information can be found in our full attendance policy.
